We are committed to strengthening families impacted by the foster care system in Phoenix, AZ. Parents of children in foster care need someone to believe in them. We believe that by addressing four main pillars of a stable life - housing, employment, financial literacy, and community - that parents will build a solid base to reunify with their children. Desert Streams does not exist to promote a welfare mindset, but instead we offer intentional relationship, personalized support, and develop self reliance. We hope that every parent that comes through the Desert Streams program builds lasting relationships with fellow program participants, mentors, and their child’s foster families and ultimately reunifies with their children. After a year of participation, clients will graduate from the program with a plethora of new skills and training in preparation for reunification to move into a new chapter of stability, safety, and independence.
Stable Housing
Stable housing is an essential building block for success, health and safety in all other areas of life; Desert Streams solves housing needs so that members of our program are able to focus on next steps.
Financial Literacy
Financial literacy empowers individuals to manage money wisely, make informed decisions, build reasonable budgets, avoid debt, and achieve long-term security and independence for themselves and their families.
Committed Community
Community provides emotional and spiritual support while encouraging personal growth, resilience, and purpose. A strong sense of belonging can be pivotal in a members life.
We believe that maintained sobriety is a key element to maintaining a healthy parent and child relationship. Members of Desert Streams will be actively tested for illegal drug use, and any failure to maintain sobriety will result in removal from our program.
CHILDREN DESERVE FAMILY, PARENTS DESERVE A SECOND CHANCE.
When a parent loses their child, it's easy for hopelessness to set in. We believe the most important step to a healthy family is hope and a relationship with Jesus. We encourage parents to build healthy relationships with their local church congregation and gain friends to lean on for life and point them towards Christ.
